Make your own way to the Rendezvous Hotel in Skipton and meet our bridge director and host before dining and evening bridge. There will be a short session of afternoon bridge for those who arrive in time. The Keighley and Worth Valley Railway is a 5-mile-Long Branch line that served mills and villages in the Worth Valley and is now a heritage railway line that has been delightfully restored. We travel to the delightful quaint town of Haworth, which was home to the famous Bronte Sisters.

This event, called the River Rendezvous, results in the collection of an enormous amount of information about the water quality and environmental status of our local creeks and streams. Charles Baube. Volunteers will then proceed to sampling sites, returning with their water samples to Oglethorpe in the early afternoon. All equipment and necessary training will be provided and no special skills are needed. Results from this event in previous years have shown that there are many areas of concern in our local streams and creeks. These include areas of elevated fecal coliform bacteria, as well as areas of excessive siltation, and stretches of water that seem to be biologically dead.

Royal Rendezvous could step up to Grade One level on his next appearance following a dominant display on his debut over fences at Thurles. The Willie Mullins-trained seven-year-old won three races in succession between August and October of last year, but was pulled up on his return from a break in a top-level novice hurdle at the Punchestown Festival. Making his seasonal reappearance and chasing bow, the seven-year-old was the favourite for the Killinan Beginners Chase — and jumped accurately before readily pulling three lengths clear in the hands of Paul Townend.
